WHO WE ARE

The Associació Cultural AYAMOLA is an NGO based in Barcelona which brings together the decades-long experiences and skills of artists, creatives, educators and activists in non-formal education of music, art, technology and dissemination of environmental issues.

Within Ayamola, new forms of relationship between art (music, plastic arts, performances), technology (digital maker, programming) and scientific and environmental dissemination are conceived, developed and realised.

MISSION

what means AYAMOLA?

An ancient story...

The name AYAMOLA derives from the word ‘Ajamola’ sung by tuna fishermen on the island of Favignana (Sicily, Italy) to give themselves rhythm as they hauled the heavy fish on board.

This song is so old that nobody knows its meaning any more, but it continues to be sung, like a sea-mantra, living a life of its own.
